Coaches Notes

A mutant maker is a squat clean into a thruster. The bar starts on the ground. Perform a clean. On the way out of the clean continue up into a thruster, finishing with the bar locked out overhead. If you catch the bar in a power clean, you must first squat hips below knees before taking the bar overhead.

  1. Whats the weight for the mutant makers? Just the 45# barbell? If so, how do we do these with no weight on the bar? Take it from the ground or down to just the ankles?

    • Oh. Cool. no problem. One handed right?

      • 185 is the weight for Jedi mind lifting it to the rack. 225 is the weight if you’re doing it one handed, come on noob.

  2. Jeremy, my sister did it with 65 so your question about using just the bar makes every member of the male species cringe.
    Blaz and I did it with 135. Reps 22-30 are total gut checks and so is the 400 m run afterwards. For everything else, just channel your inner Mark.

    • It said “Barbell” mutant makers with no prescribed weight. That is why I was confused.

    • Channel your inner Mark by walking the 400. This will help tremendously with recovery.

  3. You know what they say about assuming….I’m pretty sure that’s to differentiate between mutant makers with dumbbells.

  4. Dee has made the picture 11 out of the past 10 days(an extra one for the semi-permanent spot she has at the top of the home page). It’s either a brilliant marketing scheme or someone’s kind of a creeeeeper. Which coach handles the website again???

      I went back to check the blog pictures to see if there was any truth to
      b-ry’s comment (sweet nickname bro). I have two questions.

      1.) Did the photographer shoot her from mulitple angles over the course of one workout? If so, I would file that under creepy.

      2.) Or does Dee wear the same workout clothes everyday?

        2) we were low on new photos so I took a bunch during one class
        3) it is a lose lose for me, if I ever reuse a photo I get called out, but when I try to put new photos up every day, I still get called out
        4) You all know you would rather see pics of girls on the website than Bry’s ugly mug

    • 5) who’s the real creepy, the guy who owns the gym and just happens to be responsible for taking pictures or the guy who took the time to a)notice this phenomenon and then go back through the posts to see them all

    Hitting up Dallas this weekend and might drop by the box so I thought I might try your WOD…really solid, definitely a tough one. 14:16 with 135# bb. Thanks for a good workout today!
