  1. Damn this looks tough…especially in 105 deg. Predicting my total rep count to be: 1 per movement per round…for a total of 15. :)

    Moment of the morning:
Stuart walking out of the men’s locker room in only a small towel wrapped around his waist. All he said was “hey guys” and then proceeded to walk out to his car to get his clothes.

  3. Thrusters always a great way to start the week out. So is Stuart in a towel.

  4. good to be back w/ the 5:30 class after three weeks out of town!

Adam, I noticed your status message about eating while traveling. Whenever I am traveling one of the first things I do is find a good grocery store. If I am in a state that doesn’t have a WF or CM I will ask someone at the hotel what the best grocery store is for organic / local food. Almost every hotel has a mini fridge so I will stock up on some fruit and veggies I can eat raw, roast beef and turkey from the deli and then I will make my own trail mix of nuts, seed and dried fruit. I call it a success if I can try and eat healthy 2 out of 3 meals when away. Breakfast is usually easy as most places you go will have some sort of paleo option (eggs, meat, fruit, veggies). When I am out of town I find lunch to be the hardest so a trip to the grocery store definitely helps.

Anyone else travel like Adam and care to share any tips?

      • Traveling is a perfect time to give intermittent fasting a try. You know, just don’t eat when you travel. at all. :-)

Actually, I have found that when asked, most restaurants where you’d get dinner or lunch will prepare a plain grilled chicken breast and some steamed veges. Might not be the most exciting meals, but at least it won’t set you back on your paleo schedule.

  5. A good grocery store is key for sure. I like the hard boiled eggs that are available at most complimentary hotel buffets too, although if they’re cold I’ll get a coffee cup of hot water to soak them in. Cold eggs taste weird to me.

Thought it was pretty normal….until Eric got a big smile and ran to get his camera and take pictures of me. Gotta admit the hi-heels were a nice touch.

    • That’s hilarious!! I am glad you brightened everyone’s morning and glad you are posting on the blog! We need more bloggers to keep me entertained, especially now that I’m back at work after vacay. :(

      • This video is entertaining. And it’s somewhat relevant, I’m sure the cupcake gun was developed after the filmmakers realized what all that gluten and sugar was doing to their bodies and went paleo. How else are you going to get rid of your cupcakes?

On the eating while travelling note, I find airports are a huge trap for me and, when you start the trip off eating poorly, it sets the tone for the trip. I travel about 50 percent of the time, so obviously, I spend a lot of time in airports. I have started to carry nuts and Think Thin (which I’m sure Eric will hate) bars with me. Also, I’ll stock up on nuts or seeds at the magazine shops (they all have them), so I feel like I’m buying something. I’m a girl and I like to buy ish, so it helps. Eggs/meat/fruit/veggies for bfast. Salad for lunch, steak or lamb or MEAT for dinner, and say no to peer pressure on dessert. The snacks I carry help if I don’t have time for lunch to save me from eating something I don’t want to eat for the sake of it. Unfortunately, you don’t have a purse, but I suggest investing in a man-purse. Your diet is worth it. ;)

tonight will be my 2nd workout, havent experienced a ‘thruster’ yet. would someone mind giving me a quick description so I have some idea of what to expect? thanks!

    • Kim you can go to crossfit.com and click on ‘exercises and demos’ on the left. then you can either scan or do CNTL+F (or COMND+F for mac) for a search . This site was my friend for months when I first started. I’ll be at the 6:30 so maybe we’ll see you there.

  10. Imagine for your closest friend’s birthday, you bought them a new barbell with a couple plates on it. Because you are an awesome and generous friend. You wanted to surprise them with it when they walked up their path to their house, but the shrubs on either side of path will only hide you if you’re in a full squat. A thruster is the motion you would make when you yell “SURPRISE I GOT YOU A NEW BARBELL!!!!” when they walk up.

LOL, thanks! I hope I catch on quick!

  12. Man, I can’t watch all the funny videos at work. I’m blocked! Boo! :( I’ll try to remember to watch them at home tonight.

Stephen, thanks for posting your results for the wod. Did y’all miss me at the noon class? ha ha! Just kidding. I did really like going to that class, though. I’m going to try to make the 5:30 class tonight.

  13. Just curious, Did anyone do this as prescribed and how did you do?

  14. So sorry I missed this one (and the show this morning). My legs are just now back to normal from all the wallballs the last few workouts. Lesson learned–never take a vacation from CF. You will pay for it upon return.
See ya’ll tomorrow, bright and early

  15. So, I’m always greatly amused at how about 65%-95% of the comments posted on WODs have *almost* nothing to do with reps, rounds, etc. Oh, there’s usually some correlation to CF…but not to results. Makes me smile a lot!!

    Anyways, 104 reps | 65# | no band -> 1 purple -> 2 purple on pull-ups. Yay……

OH, and I got my first KPU tonight!! Or more like 7!! Yeah, buddy!

  16. 86 reps- 47# thrusters, kipping pull-ups.

Congrats on the pull-ups Chalyce! That’s awesome!
