I’m confused by these non-cheese dairy products where only about a third is milk. . .do people really consume 400lbs of yogurt and ice cream? Maybe my dairy knowledge is too limited but this seems weird.
Its 24# of ice cream and the 376 of cream cheese of course.
Also, corn counts as a vegetable? And it’s only 3 percent of the total diet? That’s surprising low. And I wonder how much of the remaining vegetable chunk are potatoes.
What is a Dairy product that is not cheese and not beverage milks? How do we get so much of it?
Ice cream is called out at the bottom of only being 24 lbs of that non-milk beverage, non-cheese dairy. Do people eat 400 lbs of spray cheese a year? Or is that entirely attributable to the trending popularity of froyo?
I am sure Casein and Whey fall under dairy products and would not classify as beverage milks. Casein and Whey are used in a lot of things. And yea, like Danielle said, I bet a ton of it is ice cream / gellato / cream.
But it is interesting to see the break downs, I was definitely surprised.
It would be even more interesting to see it broken down by calories instead of pounds. The fruit and veggie slices would shrink significantly I would think.
Don’t want to clog up[ the WOD comments, but please check out the post in community (I think it’s under my profile). Thanks.

equally interesting.
The scariest thing on that chart is the fact that we consume more pounds of sweeteners than we do meat… ridiculous

Corn is in everything. It’s WAY higher than 3%. And it’s a grain, not a vegetable. America is dumb.
