In honor of USAF SSgt Timothy P. Davis, 28, who was killed on Feburary, 20 2009 supporting operations in OEF when his vehicle was struck by an IED. Timothy is survived by his wife Megan and one-year old son T.J.

Yay, I love the push jerk! I’m sure I won’t be doing much weight, but I’m still looking forward to it. Ladies, what weights did y’all use in the morning classes?
Awesome work by the small but mighty morning classes. Maggie did 65# but I think she could have done 75.
Noooooo 65# was good. The hang power clean ended up being the hardest part.
Good to know. I’ll probably should for 55# or 60#, then. We’ll see.
My hands are shredded from last night…and for anyone else who thinks it might be a good idea to take Motorcycle Tom’s advice and use Liquid Skin/Bandaid……it is not. That sh*t burns like a hot coal. I think I would rather be kicked in the family jewels…okay, it’s not *that* bad, but still. Stick with soap/water and Vitamin E cream.
Casey, I feel like I gave fair warning last night that it stings like hell for about 15 seconds, but then you have a brand new set of hands that do not require babying….I stand by my method
Tom, I support your method…with a qualification. I let the scrapes/cuts/rips heal for a full day, then apply the liquid bandage. It hurts less, but you still get the benefit of hands being sealed and waterproof and usable.
true true. your warning was on the money. upon application, my thought process was something along the lines of “hey, this isn’t so……..OHMYGODMYHANDISONFIRE!”
Is a certain percentage of your strict press 1RM a good predictor of what you can handle for the jerk?
For anyone doing this Rx’d what weight do you normally press?
It really depends, some people have a drastic difference between their Press, Push Press, and Push Jerk. Generally most people can Jerk around 50% more than they press.
I would say that most people doing 155# on today’s workout have between a 145-195 1rm on press.
Looks like I won’t be back to the Box until May 17. I have to take an emergency trip to Florida to say goodbye to my grandma. Dont do any fun WODs while I’m gone!
